Fouziah Khairali

Fouziah completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Health & Society as well as her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia. Fouziah discovered her passion for working with children with diverse abilities while working at the daycares at the UBC childcare services. While pursing her degree, Fouziah has also worked as a behavioural interventionist and a youth support worker at private pediatric therapy centres throughout the lower mainland. In her graduate work, she focussed on learning about the daily life experiences and impact of developmental coordination disorder on adolescents, from their own perspectives. She has experience working with youth from birth to age 18 and has worked with individuals with a range of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Developmental Coordination Disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, and complex mental health.

Fouziah has taken the following courses and continues to seek further opportunities to develop her skills: Dive into a Coach Approach 1.0 Program, Toilet Training For Everyone – Revised and Expanded – Autism Community Training, Neurodiversity-Affirming OT Practice: An Autism CE Summit

In her current practice, Fouziah believes occupational therapy support should be strength-based, culturally safe and fun! She deeply values neuro-diversity affirming therapy rooted in relationship building and play to best collaborate with children and families to reach their goals. Apart from enjoying her work as an occupational therapist, Fouziah also finds great joy in hiking with her dog, Hippo, cooking and travelling with her partner and spending time with her family and friends.
